What happens if you miss your PSI exam? ›

I missed my scheduled exam(s) with PSI. How do I reschedule? If you miss your appointment as scheduled, you are also forfeiting your examination fee and you must submit the re-examination fee in order to reschedule. You will receive a letter in the mail regarding your failure to appear.

Can I cancel and/or reschedule my test appointment via the PSI Website? Many test appointments can be canceled and/or rescheduled through logging in to your account. Typically, we allow you to schedule 1 day prior if space is available and we require 2 business days to reschedule your exam without penalty.

There is a $43 convenience fee to take an examination at the PSI locations. All PSI locations have free parking and are available for Saturday examinations in addition to Monday through Friday.

The PSI test questions are frequently tricky, and your eyes and mind often work at different speeds. Imagine the following question: “Who retains legal title of real property in an installment contract?” but by reading it quickly, you picked the wrong answer and possibly found yourself waiting to retake the exam.

Form 1 has a cut score of 70 but Form 2 is slightly easier and a higher score of 71 is required to pass the test. This creates a problem for the test publisher. On Form 1, a candidate who scores 70 earns the credential while a candidate who scores 70 on Form 2 does not earn the credential.

If you are located within the United States, you will receive a copy of your score report in your PSI account immediately following the completion of your exam.

Candidates may retake the license examination as many times as necessary but the examination must be passed within one (1) year from the date the license application was received at the California Department of Insurance.

Waiving the PSIR

The defendant should waive (i.e., bypass) a presentence investigation and report when the judge or prosecutor has guaranteed a favorable sentence. When the judge can sentence-bargain, a PSIR may provide the judge an out from a favorable promise.
