Indian man stole $37 million in crypto using fake Coinbase Pro site.Chirag Tomar, 30, was arrested at the Atlanta airport on December 20, 2023, following investigations by the U.S. Secret Service with assistance from the FBI in Nashville.Tomar and his co-conspirators set up a counterfeit Coinbase Pro site using the domain "coinbasepro.com" in June 2021. Their goal was to deceive legitimate Coinbase customers into providing their login credentials and two-factor authentication codes. Coinbase Pro, a platform for professional cryptocurrency traders, was shut down in November 2022, with its features integrated into the main Coinbase service. The fraudulent scheme involved social engineering tactics, where victims encountered fake login errors and were prompted to call supposed Coinbase representatives. These imposters then breached the victims' computers using remote access software, gaining control of their cryptocurrency wallets. In one instance, a North Carolina victim lost $240,000 in digital assets. The Department of Justice revealed that Tomar controlled numerous cryptocurrency wallets receiving hundreds of stolen transactions, totaling tens of millions of dollars. The stolen cryptocurrency was quickly converted, moved across various wallets, and ultimately turned into cash to fund a lavish lifestyle, including luxury cars and exotic trips.Tomar now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. This case underscores the importance of cybersecurity awareness and the need for robust protective measures.

FROM WORST INVENTION TO MUST-HAVE: HOW CROCS FLIPPED THE SCRIPT ON FOOTWEAR. In 2002, Crocs emerged with a revolutionary idea: lightweight, waterproof footwear for boaters. Scott Seamans, Lyndon "Duke" Hanson, and George Boedecker Jr. introduced Croslite, a foam resin core, offering unmatched comfort and buoyancy.Despite practicality, Crocs faced skepticism and ridicule for their unconventional look, even landing on Time Magazine's "worst inventions" list.
