School District of Menomonee Falls offi-cials last weeksummarized additional reduc-tions that are proposed as part of theupcom-ing budget
During the March 9 meeting, district offi-cials summarized$437,000 of net non staf fchanges and $475,000 of net staffchangesfor the coming 2015-16 budget.
Among the non staff changes, $60,000
in school vans was eliminated because theywere purchased in the2014-15 budget. Also$240,000 was reduced due to the realloca-tionof carryover dollars and cost savingsdue to favorable equipmentbids. There hasalso been a $65,000 reduction in the pro-fessionaldevelopment, assessment, and sum-mer school transportationbudgets.
Director of Business Services Jeff Gross
noted that while the district originally pro-jected an increaseof $75 per pupil in therevenue limit, the budget proposed byGov.Scott Walker has no increase. In addition, the governor’s budgetincluded a reductionin per pupil categorical aid, which willbeeliminated for the first year of the statebudget while returningfor the second year.
While the governor proposed the budg-et earlier this year, theLegislature is currently
discussing the budget and it could change.Under the currentbudget projections,6.34 full-time equivalent positions arepro-jected to be eliminated for a savings of$475,000.Superintendent Patricia Grecoindicated that preliminarynon-renewalnotices would be sent out to a larger groupofemployees.
“This is more reflective of what webelieve the actual reductionswill be,” Grecosaid of the 6.34 figure.
Greco noted that the incoming freshmanclass at the high schoolis smaller at the grad-uating class, while the incoming sixthgradeclass will be less than the current eighth
grade class. Greco said that will acfour of the 6.34 equivalentposition
Human Resources Director CStandlee added that some of theprnon-renewals are instances whereees have asked a reduction butthrequires a non-renewal notice. Standthe majority of non-renewalshave tobudget reasons. She said leadershings are scheduled torefined the nu
preliminary non-renewal notices thbe issued. Non-renewal noticeswilized next month.
According to information fromtrict, as part of the budgetprocesstrict is required by the state to issuenary non-renewalnotices by April year. The deadline for the state buwhich schoolfunding is determined, leaving school districts to do somenprojections in funding while prephave a balanced budget.

The School District of Menomonee Fallsis proposing to addHamilton High Schoolto the girls gymnastics co-op it operateswiththe Germantown district.
The team operates out of MenomoneeFalls High School and competesin theNorth Shore Conference.
Menomonee Falls Athletic DirectorRyan Anderson appeared at theMarch 9School Board meeting with a request for atwo-year agreementthat would includeHamilton in the girls gymnastics co-op. Hesaidthe number of gymnasts in the programdeclined from 22 to 12 thispast season, and three of the gymnasts are graduating.
Anderson said an initial look deter-mined that there may bethree gymnasts atHamilton who would be interested in join-ing theFalls/Germantown team. In addi-tion, there will be a recruitmentcampaign
at the middle and high school levels to gen-erate participantsin the sport.
“It’s a tough sport to get girls to spendfour years with you,”Anderson said.
Anderson added that another issue withgymnastics is that manygirls are choosingthe club competition over high school.
“You have to choose one over theother,” Anderson said.
Anderson noted that Menomonee Fallswas dominant in boysgymnastics in the late1980s and early 1990s.
“That quickly went away as other sportswere offered. I’d hate tosee this sport gocompletely go away and this is an effort to
save it,” Anderson said. The board will take final action onthe
request at its next meeting.—By Thomas J. McKillen,Managing

ASK THE ADVISORASK THE ADVISORAreYou Following a "Tax-smart" Investment Strategy?
We’re getting closer to April 15: Tax Filing Day. And whilethere may not be much youcan do to change your results for the 2014tax year, you can certainly look closely at yourtax returns to findareas you might be able to improve next year — and one such areaisyour investment portfolio.
Of course, you may also find opportunities in other places, too.Could you have takenmore deductions? Could you have moved some ofyour debts into a tax-deductible loan, such as a home equity loan orline of credit? You’ll want to consult with your tax advisortodetermine areas of potential savings.
However, you may be able to brighten your tax picture by makingsome "tax-smart"investment moves, such as the following:• Resistthe urge to trade frequently. It can be costly to constantly buyand sell invest-ments. In addition to the commissions you mayincur, and the possibility that such exces-sive trading can impedea consistent investment strategy, you could rack up a sizabletaxbill. If you sell an asset that you’ve held for a year or less, any profit you earn is consid-ered a short-term capital gain, whichis taxed at the same rate as your ordinary income. So, for example,if you bought Investment ABC for $1,000 on January 5, 2014, andyousold it for $1,250 on Dec. 31, 2014, you’d be taxed on your $250gain. If you are in the28% tax bracket, you’d owe $70 in taxes. Butif you had waited until January 6, 2015, andyou sold yourinvestment for the same $250 gain, you’d pay the more favorablelong-termcapital gains tax rate of 15%, which translates into$37.50 in taxes — just over half ofwhat you’d owe at theshort-term rate. If you habitually sold investments afterowningthem less than a year, the taxes could really add up —so tryto be a "buy-and-hold"investor.• Increase your 401(k)contributions. If you aren’t already participating in your 401(k)orsimilar plan, start now. And if you are contributing, boost yourcontributions whenev-er your salary goes up. You typically put"pretax" dollars in your 401(k), so the more youadd, the lower yourannual taxable income. Plus, your earnings can grow taxdeferred.
• "Max out" on your IRA. Depending on your income level, you maybe able to deductsome, or all, of your contributions to yourtraditional IRA — and these deductible con-tributions can loweryour taxable income. Plus, your investment can grow taxdeferred.(Keep in mind, though, that taxes will be due uponwithdrawal, and any withdrawals madebefore you reach 591/2 aresubject to a 10% IRS penalty.)If you contribute to a Roth IRA, yourcontributions are never deductible and won’t loweryour taxableincome, but your earnings are distributed tax free, provided you’vehadyour account at least five years and you are older than 59_. In2015, you can contribute$5,500 to your IRA, plus an additional$1,000 catch-up contribution if you are 50 orolder— and it’s almostalways a good idea to "max out" your contributions each year.
By following a buy-and-hold investment strategy and using thosetax-advantagedaccounts available to you, you may be able to helpyourself — at tax time and beyond.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Monthpreventable • treatable •beatable
The following information was taken from theCenters for DiseaseControl Website.
Among cancers that affect both men andwomen, colorectal cancer(cancer of the colon orrectum) is the second leading cause ofcancerdeaths in the United States. Every year, about140,000Americans are diagnosed with colorec-tal cancer, and more than50,000 people diefrom it. But this disease is highly preventable, bygetting screened beginning at age 50.
What You Can Do•If you’re aged 50 to 75, get screened for
colorectal cancer regularly. Screening tests helppreventcolorectal cancer by finding precancer-ous polyps (abnormalgrowths) so they can beremoved. Screening also finds this cancerearly, when treatment can be most effective.
•Be physically active.•Maintain a healthy weight.•Don’t drinktoo much alcohol.•Don’t smoke.
Colorectal cancer screening saves lives.Screening also helpsfind colorectal cancer at anearly stage, when treatment often leadsto a cure.About nine out of every 10 people whose col-orectalcancers are found early and treatedappropriately are still alivefive years later.
While screening rates have increased in theU.S., not enoughpeople are getting screened forcolorectal cancer. In 2012, 65% ofU.S. adultswere up-to-date with colorectal cancer screening;7% hadbeen screened, but were not up-to-date;and 28% had never beenscreened.
(Data source: Centers for Disease Controland Prevention (CDC).Vital Signs: Colorectal can-cer screening test use—United States,2012.MMWR 2013;62(44):881–888.)
Fast FactsRisk increases with age. More than 90% of
colorectal cancers occur in people aged 50 andolder.Precancerouspolyps and colorectal cancer
don’t always cause symptoms, especially at first. You could havepolyps or colorectal cancer andnot know it. That is why having ascreening test isso important. If you have symptoms, theymayinclude—
Blood in or on the stool (bowel movement).Stomach pain, aches,or cramps that do not
go away.Losing weight and you don’t know why. These symptoms maybe caused by some-
thing other than cancer. If you have any of them, see yourdoctor. Some people are at a higher riskthan others for developingcolorectal cancer. Ifyou think you may be at high risk, talk toyour doc-tor about when and how often to get tested.
There are several screening test options.Talk with your doctorabout which is right for

Jesus will forgive you of any sin no matter howmany, how hideFor God so loved the world that He gave Hisonly begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlaslife. For God sent not His Son into the world tocondemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. If you are still li(in reality dying) in your sins, then confessyour sins to Him, and ask Him to save you right now. He will comein, and you will be indwelt by the HSpirit, the third Person of theGodhead, and God theAlmighty Father will become your Father! You can now call Him “Abba” Father, which mDaddy.Jesus willclean you up through His Word, the Holy Bible. You will sense Godworking in your life by the inner dwelling and witness of theSpirit, and He will lead you to pray and guide you in all areas ofyour life. God will give you peace in your soul, an amazing loveback to God and foothers, and a joy in your heart!Dave414-453-5982

Drs. Richard and Bruce Winte
The partials I have had since December have beenadjusted and fitgood but make my mouth just feel souncomfortable some days. Thetops make my mouth feelreally full and bulky even though they don’thurt. I havebeen a lot happier since I got partials as now I amable tosmile and my lips look fuller so my face doesn’t seemtodroop. I am in advertising so having nice teeth andtalkingproperly is extremely important to me. I wantotheralternatives to just regular partials. I'm missing almostallback teeth except for two, so I have upper and lowerpartials
currently with the clear clips. Lastly, can you tell meifinsurance will pay for this?Dear Lisa, I am glad youreceived partials and are
adapting to them! I refer to partial dentures and denturesastemporaries in my practice. That is because I want everypatientto have stable teeth, which ideally stay in yourmouth and don’thave to be removed at night. While noteveryone is a candidate forfixed implant dentistry itcertainly is a great goal.
When people wear partials-even comfortable partials-many thingshappen. First you lose bone where your backteeth were pulled. Thelack of roots in the bone cause thebone to deteriorate and themovement of the partials adds tobone loss. Next, you get expansionof the maxillary sinuses. This is because the roots of the backteeth hold the sinusesup and when the teeth are removed the sinusesexpand in aprocess called pneumatization. Lastly, the clasps ofpartialsmove when you chew on the false teeth. This movementisaccentuated on the clasped teeth which often become loseand needto be removed at a later date.
So the solution is to have dental implants and fixedbridges. Ifyou have bone loss or the sinuses have expanded
you may require sinus lifts and or bone grafting priortoplacement of implants. Placing implants will stimulateandpreserve bone. Loss of teeth and rubbing on your skin bypartialscause bone loss. So our goal in dentistry is topreserve bone at allcosts! So placing implants before toomuch bone loss has occurredwill greatly preserve youroptions as you age. I lecture to otherdentists aboutUpgradeable Dentistry, which allows people to gofromdentures to implant supported dentures or even implantsupportedbridges as their budget allows. So even thoughinsurance doesn’tcover this level of complex dentistry we
offer interest free financing to help you achievthat willpreserve your bone and your options tyour life according to yourbudget.
Y o u c a n v i s i t o u r w e bswww.hamptondentalassociates.com for videotestimonials and to learnabout options that willto get rid of your partial dentures.
Wearing partials is a great first step towardyour mouth. Movingon to the next step beforirreversible bone loss is the next step inyojourney and we would be honored to help you next level ofcare to improve your smile, youand your self-esteem.
We offer complimentary consultations and rcomprehensiveexamination and x-ray visits todetermine the treatment that’s rightfor you. Wof our readers to call us at 414-464-9021 to sch
