One scam involves the scammer pretending to be a member of the Sheriff's Office and the scammer demands payment of fines, fees or a warrant over the phone. The Sheriff's Office does not contact individuals over the phone and ask for payments. If you are concerned that you may have a warrant or owe fines/fees please contact the Sheriff's Office directly or come by the office in person. The other scam involves the scammer pretending to be a member of the clergy and the scammer requests donations or gift cards. Citizens are encouraged to contact their church or other charitable organizations directly about making donations.46Like16
PPLATTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyToday (Monday May 6, 2024) at approximately 8:50 a. m., we received notification from Leavenworth County, Kansas law enforcement to look out for a silver Ford Explorer with Kansas Dealer tags that was involved in a reported aggravated domestic battery (possibly involving a firearm) in their jurisdiction. Our deputies located the suspect vehicle on MO 45 Hwy near Farley, MO, and attempted to stop it. When the driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop, deputies initiated a pursuit and continued to follow the suspect vehicle southbound on MO 45 Hwy until the vehicle exited onto Southbound Interstate 435 and crashed. Deputies then initiated a foot pursuit of the suspect driver and were able to take him into custody without further incident. Leavenworth, Kansas, law enforcement confirmed that the party taken into custody was their suspect in 4 counts of battery. The suspect, a 37 year old black male from Leavenworth, Kansas was transported to the Platte County Detention Center where he was placed on a 24-hour investigative hold pending formal charges.68Like15
PPLATTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyThis morning the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance with an armed barricaded subject in the 16000 block of 371 Highway, near Tracy, Missouri at 9:50 a. m. The stand-off lasted until approximately 1:40 p.m. During the stand-off a single gunshot was heard coming from inside the residence. The suspect, Bradford Wallace, a 41-year-old male from Platte County, was taken into custody without injury and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. A 38-year-old female was evaluated by EMS on the scene and then interviewed by detectives. The case is being forwarded to the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the Platte City Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance.24Like6
CCLAY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyOnce again, scam callers are posing as a member of our office (using a real employee's name he found on our web site) threatening to arrest those who won't pay up for a warrant. One resident even said the scammer told him to meet at the Sheriff's Office. We started receiving reports of this on Friday, and they continue today. At least one resident reported the call came from 816-320-4564. When you call that number, it claims to be the Clay County Sheriff's Office, and it even says to hang up and call 911 if it's an emergency. Don't fall for it. All of our phone numbers start with 816-407. (Keep in mind that some scammers can spoof phone numbers, however.) Scammers like this also will try to keep you on the phone and will be aggressive and threatening. Remember: * WE NEVER CALL ABOUT WARRANTS OR DEMAND BOND PAYMENT OVER THE PHONE. * The only place you can post bond is inside our Detention Center lobby at 14 S. Water Street, Liberty, Mo. There are a whole bunch of cameras in and around there, too. * We do not accept electronic payments, gift cards or crypto currency. * You can call us at 816-407-3700 to verify any suspicious calls like this you may have received.46Like12
CCLAY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyAfter months of investigation, deputies shut down fentanyl dealers in Avondale this weekend. On Sunday morning, our Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team served search warrants at 2703 N. Bellefontaine and 2701 N. Walrond. They found more than 105 grams of fentanyl inside, which is enough to kill about 52,200 people. They also found paraphernalia for packaging and distributing the drugs. Also in the house were meth, cocaine, five firearms and three suppressors. One of the firearms had been reported stolen. Garrett Moulder, 38, has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon and theft of a firearm. Elizabeth Dye, 31, has been charged with one count of drug trafficking and one count of drug possession. Both are being held on $100,000 bonds.2Like2
CCLAY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencySomeone has already lost $500 today to scammers claiming to be our deputies. We've gotten multiple reports of scam calls since this morning. It's the same old "you missed jury duty and have a warrant" scam. They ask people to stay on the phone with them. For some, they've directed them to drive to our headquarters while staying on the phone. WE NEVER CALL ABOUT WARRANTS. We do not call and demand money. We do not accept bond payments electronically or through crypto currency or gift cards. Those are all bright, red scam flags.68Like43
